This story is a continuation of “The 1950 Cup helped Find My family.” If you haven’t read it, read that story first.
In the story above, after an interesting detective work, we were able to find the Brazilian death certificate of Giuliano Carrieri. The death certificate information, motivated my son to find Giuliano’s Italian birth certificate. To this end he hired a company that had representation in Italy to go to Polignano-A-Mare (see on this site: Polignano-A-Mare Jewel of the Adriatic) to obtain the certificate. He paid up-front for service with the promise that if nothing was found he would get the money back.
Several months passed by. Nothing.
After six months, talking to my son, I decided to contact the company to get the money back. On the same day, by coincidence, I received in the mail the “Estrato Dell Atto di Nascita Giuliano Carrieri”, which is now available on this site in the area reserved for documents.
I thought, well, now my son will be happy and will stop with the idea of seeking for his origins. No way, and he, unbeknownst to me, decided to get help from the Mormons.
Opening parenthesis to explain the Mormons (
The Mormons are a cultural and religious group (some say cult) related to Mormonism, the main branch of the movement for the restoration of Christianity of the latter-day Saints. Started with Joseph Smith, which in the north of the State of New York in the year 1820, had a vision where an Angel took him to a place where he found a buried golden book containing religious history of ancient peoples. Joseph Smit translated the book which became The Book of Mormons. The book name comes from the Prophet, and historian who wrote the book. Joseph Smith then created the Church of Christ. With the death of Joseph in 1844 under the command of Brigham Young, the Church moved to a virgin area to the West of the USA, which later became the territory and later the State of Utah. Nowadays the majority of Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
One of the basic principles of Mormonism is that they believe in the baptism of the dead. Because of that the Mormons created a records storage, which is inside a granite mountain in Utah. Also created one of the largest data processing complexes in the world to store data from all the people who have died, in order to baptize them in the faith. To accomplish this they have an army of people that has the function of copy books containing records of birth and death from all the possible places in the world. In other words the Mormons’ database contains data about your family that you don’t know about.

Knowing this, my son hired a company in Salt Lake City in Utah State, which had access to the Mormons database to see if they had family records from Polignano-A-Mare related to Giuliano Carrieri.
Not only do they had, that they were able to find the ancestors of Giuliano dating back to 18 century (1701-1800). All this data is now available on this site. Also available are the documents and microfiche copies received from Mormons.
